Among the several valuable things that Mark and Marlene Davis contributed to the Archives of The Museum of the San Fernando Valley this week was a program for the Van Nuys Aviation Expo of 1988 - "A Salute to the Guard." (click on this image to enlarge)
It will take time to examine the program fully, to glean and cross reference the information contained in just this one program. Why? First, because it contains a great little history of the airport and its chronology, and more with the names of key personnel, kinds of aircraft etc. And, tucked away in the back of the program was a xeroxed 1988 map of the Air Port.
1988 Wing Commander, Tandy K. Bozeman. At this time he was a Colonel in the California Air National Guard. In 1999. "Bozeman the adjutant general of the California National Guard, headquartered in Sacramento. He provides executive leadership of the military department and is instrumental in setting the operational policies for the California Army and Air National Guard and the state military Reserves."
The Base Commander for the Van Nuys Air National Guard Base in 1988 was Lt. Colonel Daniel . Pemberton. He would retire from the service as a Brigadier General.
