FREE Museum Day - get out and explore

Today is SoCal Museum Day.

We hope you can visit one of the many museums within southern California today.

For more info, please visit www.socalmuseums.org.

Dozens of museums—presenting art, cultural heritage, natural history, and science—will open their doors and invite visitors to attend their museums free of charge.
Museums Free-for-All is partnering with Metro, encouraging visitors to Go Metro to explore participating museums, many of which are a short walk from Metro bus or rail stops. Experience a day of art and culture without traffic and plan ahead of time on metro.net.
This offer is for general museum admission only and does not apply to specially ticketed exhibitions. Regular parking fees apply at each museum. Consult individual museum websites for hours, directions, and other visitor information.

Annual Campo de Cahuenga historical re-enactment - always special event

Today was the annual Campo de Cahuenga historical re-enactment event on at The Campo on Lankershim Blvd.

This historical significance of this event is worth of attending each and every year - not to mention hearing a real canon be shot off two times and two canons - cover your ears!

Volunteers in period piece went through portions of the ceremony.

Los Angeles City Councilmembers David Ryu, 4th District and Paul Krekorian, 2nd District, were in attendance along with history buffs, local residents and probably a few tourists heading to Universal Studios.

incoming Museum President Michel {Michael)} Stevens)

Local vendors were on hand and food and drink were served too.

(Raymond Chilly Campbell - with his artwork)

(Woodys grill prepared terrific food for all attendees)

Overall, a nice, beautiful day, the birthplace of California is promoted once again.

For years, The Museum of the San Fernando Valley and Campo de Cahuenga have an alliance to support each organization.

Please support Campo de Cahuenga by making a donation today.

As always, much thanks and gratitude to Deuk and Beth Perrin for their tireless work to support Campo de Cahuenga.

Also, please remember to support YOUR Museum with a donation or membership today.

Thank you.
