A NEW STADIUM FOR BIRMINGHAM HIGH SCHOOL IN 1967

DISCOVERING OUR VALLEY  2011

Sports lovers were all agog over the opening of the new football stadium at Birmingham High School (Roscoe and Victory) in 1967. It was the site that year for the San Fernando Valley East - West All-Star Football Game.

Perhaps a correction of the location as Balboa Blvd and Victory Blvd?

Yes, definitely Balboa & Victory. I went there and wasa part of the concert committee to develop funds for lights for the stadium v. bleachers as has been previously indicated. Check out the talent for what was probably the 1st festival seating concert (May 20, 1967) of the time...Steve

What an interesting blog, introduced by a thought-provoking photo. The unusual wall painting of the dwellings is also a strangely modern interpretation. Something like this hieroglyphic view of a park by Swiss painter Paul Klee, http://EN.WahooArt.com/A55A04/w.nsf/OPRA/BRUE-8LT475.
The image can be seen at wahooart.com who can supply you with a canvas print of it.
