Staying on the ALERT helps your Museum Community save vital pieces of San Fernando Valley and greater Los Angeles history. This week Museum Board member, Phyllis Hansen made an important and unexpected discovery while sorting Klinker family materials. Aware that The Museum has a strong interest in Water History, Phyllis studied a 1914 Los Angeles Illustrated newspaper and found a history of early Los Angeles Water resources. The clipping is a source of information on pre-World War I food supplies, beauty and cosmetics, and mural preservation.
Here's an example of the condition of the Water History article. (Click on image to enlarge)
For study purposes, the image of Solomon Lazard was cropped electronically from the news article and enhanced for future identification purposes. (click on image to enlarge)
