"The Summer Class of 1945 requests the pleasure of your company at the Senior - Junior Prom, on the evening of June 2, 1944 from nine to twelve o'clock at the Canoga Park High School Gymnasium."
In the dark days of World War II, when the people of the United States were preparing for hand to hand combat in the invasion of Japan, Katherine Slater and her classmates attending Canoga Park High School readied themselves for their prom. Most of the boys in the class would be in basic training within a month after graduation.
The invitation is hand drawn and hand colored construction paper.
The San Fernando Valley deserves a great Museum of history and culture.
