Art Show Celebrated Reseda's Rich Rock 'n Roll History

Sal Guitarez, house photographer for the Country Club and a musician, took thousands of shots of rock 'n' roll greats performing there between 1981 and 1984 including Chuck Berry, B.B. King, James Brown, Pat Benatar and Tom Petty.

The show offered more than 20 prints, an 18-minute video showing another 100 of his photos from that era, were featured Saturday night at an art show named, "Reseda," which celebrated Reseda's glory days as the musical hub of the San Fernando Valley.

Artwork, photography, videos and poetry by local artists inspired by Reseda, several of whom discussed the music scene in the 1980s.

The event was being presented by the Reseda Neighborhood Council, in partnership with Continental Art Supplies and 11:11 A Creative Collective.
