HOW YOUR DAD WASHED A CAR IN 1964

DISCOVERING OUR VALLEY IN 2011

I was going to spread these Chi Chi Chi fraternity pictures out over the year, since there are a lot of them. But before I put them aside, here is a set on a February 1964 car wash to share on a rainy day in the San Fernando Valley. (click on images to enlarge)
Macho was as much a part of growing up in the mid 1960s as it remains today. Here Pierce College fraternity boys pose at the side of Sarose Liquors - at a Richfield Oil Station across the street from a Cupid's hot dog stand.  Anyone have an idea of where this was at?  If you know the names of any of these Chi Chi Chi boys, refer to photo 2148 and name them from left to right.

Pierce College car wash February 1964 - Photos gift to the Archives of The Museum of the San Fernando Valley from Linda Burroughs 2010.  Refer to photo 2147

Fraternity boy identified as "Doug" inspects his work?  Photo number 2146.

The price of the car wash was 75¢.  How about this Pontiac from 1964. Can you identify its model and year?  If you know the name of this young man, refer to photograph 2145.

No doubt, north east corner of Winnetka and Vanowen.
