CALIFORNIA WILDFLOWERS - THOUGHTS OF SPRINGTIME TO COME

2010  THE YEAR OF VALLEY ADVENTURES

One of the things I most love about California is its wonderful wildflowers.  Our family friend, "Dr. Pooh" a scientist in San Diego, sent me a packet of California poppy seeds three years ago for Christmas and poppies sail into my garden off and on for 7 or 8 months a year.
If you love lupin flowers as much as I, you might enjoy this vintage postcard, just added to the Archives of The Museum of the San Fernando Valley by Gary Fredburg. (click on the card to enlarge it.)

The card's message reads:  "Can you imagine a whole desert looking like this?  Yet, later this will be just a barren expanse. We took a drive through the mts. in desert a week ago  Sunday, back through another range of mts. in all about 300 miles & we  saw some very beautiful scenery. The Tehachapi Mts. are gorgeous now. “
