In the March 2011 meeting of the Board of The Museum of the San Fernando Valley, a resolution was adopted to support the nomination of H. J. Whitley, the founder of the cities of Van Nuys and Hollywood the Hall of Fame of the California Museum in Sacramento.
2011 marks the 100th anniversary of Whitley’s founding of Van Nuys, the civic center of the San Fernando Valley. Whitley, known as the Father of Hollywood was a true visionary, whose life and enterprise laid the groundwork for the San Fernando Valley’s present stature as one of the most vibrant economic communities in the United States
