My Grandfather and Uncle both worked for Jessup. My Grandfather Herman Hill started with Jessup back in the late 30's as a milker... He worked at the Glenoaks location. Then towards the end of his career he was known for making the Egg Nog they were famous for.... I have so many wonderful memories at the farm....

Many fond memories of Jessups Dairy. My father, Rodney "Dutch" Southwick delivered milk from about 1968-1970. One of his accounts was a woman in an iron Lungwho resided in La Crescenta. One of my fondest memory was visiting the farm and watching the milking process.

Hello! Does anyone know where this location was? Could this be the Jessup's off of Foothill Blvd in La Crescenta / Glendale? Does anyone know if these drive-ins (specifically the Jessups Dairy Drive-in off of Foothill Boulevard) had gasoline for sale? Thanks for the info!

This picture is the drive thru dairy on the N/E corner of Ocean View Blvd and Foothill Blvd, La Canada. It is still there, but now called Alta Dena Express.

I knew Roger V. "Vince" Jessup in his elder years, after he was the DVM at the 1984 Olympics. He was responsible for tending his father's herds from CA all the way to the Canadian border. I once visited his dad's old ranch house in N. California, his portrait still hanging on the wall above the fireplace, a giant Amana "Radarange" microwave oven in the kitchen must have weighed fifty pounds. We went with him to attempt a wild boar hunt, but while the ground was very well rooted up by these feral hogs, they were invisible and all I saw after four days were deer.

I used to visit Vince in his Burbank home often, and we shared a lot of conversation in his living room in those two huge leather chairs, frequently with Canadian whisky. I still think about his kindness and miss him to this day.

The picture on the postcard was taken at one of the drive-in stores in the SFV. Probably on White Oak Blvd. Not sure. Thank you for all the kind comments and memories of my family. The milk wagon in the picture is now owned by the SF Museum. If you google Jessup Farms Glendale NewsPress, you will find a two part article about the history of the dairy. I welcome any emails and will answer each one if you like. richjessup@yahoo.com

My brother and I spent the summer of 1966 visiting our Dad and the fondest memories were driving thru Jessup Dairy and the delivery trucks in the morning. Yum! Dad Johnny De Luca had a bar on 8th and Grand in LA and later near his home in the Valley.

We used to get our milk there in the 1950s. We went by all the time and smelled the cows as we passed. What a blast from the past! I wish I had some of the glass bottles from the old days!

Jessup Dairy delivered milk to our house and my mom would have short conversations with the delivery man who seemed almost like a part of the family back then. Somehow we called him Mr. Baldy. Same guy for years. It was so convenient and our family of 10 kids loved driving past the dairy farm when we would be out that way. What great business people they were.

I lived close to Jessup's Dairy in Glendale. Some 63 years ago I was a weekly (if not more) visitor to the facility. The calves sucked on my hands (later on my fingers), the milking with those machines making the swishing noises as those full utters were emptied. Oh, it was my happy place. Wonderful childhood memories.

I lived a couple blocks from the Jessups Dairy on San Fernando Rd in Glendale. They used to have a free milk dispenser at the front of the building for samples. As kids we rode over there often. Saw cows being born, hung out and looked at bottles being filled by maxchined. Great memories

Wow! I was hunting stuff from Jessup Dairy where I grew up around the farm. I worked in the main Jessup Dairy on Branford St. in the Drive In Dairy. I used to ride many times to the Farm in Bakersfield learned about all aspects of the dairy. Even worked at the bottle wash feeder, the cooler and even driving milk tames and deliveries to all their drive in dairies. I was friends with the younger Jessups and was there until the Dairy sold out to Adohr Farms.
It was the good old days!
Things change but not memories and most of my good friends are gone.
I also had fond memories of Bert E Jessup flower Transport!

In the 1960s we used to shop at the Jessups drive-thru at or about the 900 W block of Doran Street and San Fernando Blvd in the Atwater Village district. It was located where the 134 Ventura freeway is today. One day we were going to my Grandmothers home on Doan Drive in Burbank, there was a Jessups drive-thru on the corner of Reese Place and 1701 Burbank Blvd, Burbank and they had an adult Indian elephant there to draw people in. It did us and we got to feed it carrots and hay. We bought a few items and went down the street where my grandmother lived and told her with excitement what we four kids had just done. It was a great memory. The place was razed and is now a liquor store and small business center. Many may remember the Burbank Learn to Swim pool building. It was located at the corner of Doan Drive and Burbank Blvd. That was razed and is now an office building. It was right across the street from Jessups.
