Tarzana Shop Keeper - 2008 - photo by Gerald Fecht for The Museum of the San Fernando Valley
The proprietor, Ms. Asan of the Tarzana Beauty Supply and Salon, had barely opened her door when the great Northridge Earthquake proved it was the great Tarzana Earthquake as well. It took Asan weeks to get her shop cleaned up and inventory in order, but she is a determined woman, as her 15 years at 18462 Clark Street proves.
Asan came to the San Fernando Valley just over 30 years ago from Tehran, Iran, and like thousands of her Persian counterparts built successful lives in America.
The Museum of the San Fernando Valley collects information and artifacts about California's Persian-American community. And, we salute Asan and her hard won business success.
