WHO REMEMBERS THE TICK TOCK RESTAURANT?

Tick Tock Restaurant - North Hollywood - Toluca Lake - Archives of The Museum of the San Fernando Valley 2008 - gift to the Museum's post card collection by Gary Fredburg.

At 10123 Riverside Drive, the Valley's version of the Tick Tock Restaurant was "the" place to take your kids or grandkids when they were little. The food was good and plentiful, and the atmosphere was a child's dream. Around and around the high walls zoomed miniature engines and cabooses. It was so much for for little guys that parents could slip peas and carrots over on them in a breeze.

Your Museum collects artifacts and information on San Fernando Valley restaurants. Menus, matchbook covers, signs, and photographs, all help to rebuilt the experiences of the past.

The San Fernando Valley, in the heart of the Creative Center of the World, deserves a great Museum of history and culture.

I sure do remember the Tick Tock Restaurant. My parents use to take us back in the late 50's early 60's. It was in Hollywood and we would always have the turkey dinner. It was incredible. But my favorite thing was desert. The chocolate parfait!! The best ever. The only think was all the waitresses were all so old and sometimes a bit cranky! But I only have the fondest memories.

Yes, I loved that place! I have an ash tray and book of matches with the logo on them from when I would go there in the early 1980's

We frequented there more than any place when I was young. I always ordered the creamed turkey in a patty shell. I miss the gooey rolls and the sherbet and the clocks. The people that ran it where so sweet to us. I loved that place.

I barely remember this place because I was about 5 or 6 the last time I was there. Mike Segar(old sanfernando mayor) would take us here all the time. I remember Christmas time and they would put a Train around the Round fire place. It was good times.
