This wonderful photograph taken in India by Museum Community member Phyllis Hansen is a great example!

OrangeJust want to clarify...this little girl wasn't the bride! Ha ha.
A friend in India has just told me that her mother was engaged at age 3, and married to her father at age 15. Now widowed at 80-something, the once-timid mother has blossomed. She moved from South Africa to Australia, learned English, has been giving speeches, and is now on a year-long round-the-world trip! The woman feels she is her "own person" for the very first time in her life. I love this story.
