CHARLES WEEKS - A FOUNDER OF THE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY SUBURB OF WINNETKA

DISCOVERING OUR VALLEY    2011

Charles Weeks
After her videotaped interview with The Museum of the San Fernando Valley, Pauline Tallent shared an early pamphlet on the history of the Valley suburb of Winnetka. In the little book was this image of Charles Weeks, the idealist, who helped organize the Winnetka Community.  Weeks taught that social harmony could be established by the creation of small one acre farms.

THE AMAZING PAULINE TALLENT

DISCOVERING OUR VALLEY         2011

The Museum of the San Fernando Valley had the good fortune to videotape the distinguished Pauline Tallent last week for our Narrating Lives - Oral Histories of the San Fernando Valley project. One of the Valley's most successful and popular Realtors, Ms. Tallent began her adult life as a sergeant in the British Army, safeguarding Allied invasion plans of Europe from North Africa. She served as the president of the Winnetka Chamber of Commerce over 25 years and was among the first women in the Rotary Club.
