The Los Angeles Rams - a rich history throughout L.A. and valley - what do you recall?

Since The Museum offers the history, art and culture of the valley, let's stretch a bit, based on the historic occasion of the Los Angeles Rams returning to L.A after many years absence.

Do you recall any of these players?  Do you have Ram artifacts you would like to donate to The Museum?  Here we go...

1946 Los Angeles Rams Roster included:
Bob Waterfield, QB
Tom Harman, RB, WR, PR

                                                  (Bob Waterfield, QB)

1960 Los Angeles Rams Roster included:

Dick Bass, RB
Carroll Dale, WR
Billy Wade, QB
Jack Pardee, LB

1966 Los Angeles Rams Roster included:

50 years ago - look at the household names!

                                                    (Roman Gabriel, QB)

The Fearsome Foursome!
Merlin Olsen #74
Deacon Jones #75
Rosey Grier #76

Jack Snow #84
Les Josephson #34

                                                        (Tom Mack #65)
Joe Scibelli #73

As a kid, you always remember the names, jersey numbers, positions and good times watching from the stands.

Okay, how about the 1976 Los Angeles Rams... who were your favorite players?

Lawrence McCutcheon, RB
Rich Saul, C

                                                     (Jackie Slater, OT)

Pat Haden, QB,
Ron Jaworski, QB
John Cappelletti, RB
Fred Dryer, DE (went on to movie star fame)
Harold Jackson, WR
Dennis Harrah, OG
Jim Youngblood, LB
Jack Youngblood, DE
Jack Reynolds, LB

Household names!!!

Okay, how about the 1979 Los Angeles Rams., the last year at the Coliseum, who were your favorite players?

How about these guys...

                                                      (Cullen Bryant, RB)

Nolan Cromwell, DB

                                                    (Vince Ferragamo, QB)

Dave Emendorf, DB
Doug France, OT

The 1979 L.A. Rams seemed like it was going to be a good season, but ended up a great season as Vince Ferragamo led the charge down the stretch in the playoffs all the way to the Super Bowl, which was played at the Rose Bowl!

The Rams moved to Anaheim in 1980.

More info on the Rams will be posted - please comment and let us know your thoughts. Also, as another reminder, if you have L.A. Rams stuff collecting dust in a closet, bring some of it down to The Museum.

If you want to retain the item, allow us to take a photo of scan the image. If you want to donate it, we will have a member of the archives committee meet you at The Museum.

Your Los Angeles Rams return to the Coliseum - tell us about your fondest memories

Well, well, our Los Angeles Rams return to the City of the Angels this Saturday, August 13th.  A crowd expected to be at 90,000 will witness the coolest white on white L.A. Rams jerseys that will bring back fond memories for those old enough to remember.

Speaking of memories, The Museum is interested in capturing your favorite moments of witnessing a game at the Coliseum or watching on television, meeting a Ram in the valley, seeing one on the street, etc.

                                                     (Billy Wade, QB)

Did you ever eat or have a beverage in the 1950s or 1960s at the Ram's Horn located at 16705 Ventura Blvd. in Encino?

The Ram's Horn, run by former UCLA Bruin Don Paul, a linebacker for the L.A. Rams from 1948-55 and a member of the Rams’ 1951 NFL championship team. It was later Tracton's steakhouse.

Did you ever purchase a car from NFL Hall of Famer Merlin Olsen at his Porsche/Audi dealership at 15493-15503 Ventura Blvd. in Encino?

We will have a camera set up on certain days at The Museum. Come on in, tell us a couple or few stories and become part of the archives of The Museum!

Oral History Dates:
Saturday, August 13th from 1:00 - 3:00 pm

Saturday, August 20th from 1:00 - 3:00 pm

Additional times to be announced

Videos may run from 1-2 minutes - don't worry, those fond memories will jump out quickly.

Contact Lee Davis or Mike Stevens at The Museum at 818-347-9665 or info(at)TheMuseumSFV(dot)(org) and let us know if you can stop by over the next two Saturdays.

Historic Van Nuys Walking Tour 8/21/16

ONLY 2 TOURS REMAIN THIS YEAR!

Originally a barley field, Van Nuys became a prosperous center of City Government, agriculture and industry. The development entity known as The Syndicate began the process in 1910, but William Paul Whitsett saw it through to the end.

Come explore what remains to be appreciated: original 1911 buildings hidden beneath modern facades, first churches, a civic center with many special revelations, one of the main hubs of social and official activity, the Women's Club building, Los Angeles Historic Cultural Monuments #201, #202, and #911, and National Register of Historic Places Monument #2509.

Learn about the origin of the Daily News and the company which was a nationwide maker of silent movie theatre organs. Who were Hobart Johnstone Whitley, Wayne E.
