WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT!

HORSES ACROSS THE VALLEY (HATV)
SELECTS ITS NEXT ARTIST!

The Museum and Northridge/South Neighborhood Council (NSNC) are pleased to announce their selection of Ingrid Elburg as the designer of NSNC’s horse, which horse is part of The Museum’s HATV Neighborhood Council Sponsorship Program.   Through a call to Valley visual artists, NSNC received a wide array of submissions that reflected a diverse range of artistic styles and Northridge historical events.  In the end, the NSNC Board was overwhelmingly won over by Ms. Elburg’s vision.

INGRID ELBURG

HATV is a public art and fundraising program under The Museum developed to raise awareness of the historical, cultural and artistic heritage of the San Fernando Valley. The Neighborhood Council Program is an affordable way for any given neighborhood council to secure a full-sized fiberglass decorated horse with the goal of focusing the horse’s design on its local community’s history and activities.  Placement of the horse will be located within the neighborhood council district’s boundaries.

Ingrid. Elburg, who lives in Van Nuys, is a visual arts teacher at Hancock Elementary School and Cathedral Chapel School. Originally from Suriname and then the Netherlands, Ingrid’s work has been shown in Europe and the United States.

This is The Museum’s second horse sponsored through the HATV Neighborhood Council Program.  The first horse was sponsored by the Greater Valley Glen Neighborhood Council, designed by artist Cheryl Goettemoeller and is awaiting finalization of its placement location.
